Scott's House, March 17, 2016
“Scott’s House” is an abandoned two-story wood-framed house in a wooded area near Elkridge, Maryland. Based on materials found inside the house, this was once the home of the family of Scott Alan Bauer, an outdoorsman and automotive enthusiast. As far as I can tell, the Bauers left the house in late 2002, and never looked back. I was unable to determine the reason that the Bauers left the house, nor was I able to determine why they left all of their belongings behind in their departure.
Since the Bauers departed, the house has been left to nature. This house will most likely never be lived in again, as deterioration from lack of maintenance, as well as damage from a tree that fell on the house at some point between 2010 and 2014, have likely rendered this structure beyond economic repair. In the years since the house’s abandonment, the house has been visited by urban explorers, some of whom merely explored the house, and others who left their own mark through graffiti and vandalism, as many items had clearly been moved in the years since the Bauers left the house.
