Federated Auto Parts warehouse and Fisher Auto Parts store in Staunton, Virginia, formerly a Lowe's Home Improvement store. Lowe's vacated this building in the late 1990s when it opened a larger store on Richmond Avenue in order to maintain its proximity to Walmart, which relocated from the adjacent Statler Crossing shopping center in 1995 to a Supercenter location on Richmond Avenue. Federated took over the building not long after, as their first acquisition on Statler Blvd. The former garden center area is now the Fisher Auto Parts store. The former main entrance has been bricked in.
This is the third of four Lowe's Home Improvement stores that have existed in the Staunton area. The first store was located near downtown. The second store was located south of the city limits on Route 11, which Lowe's vacated in the early 1990s to move to the store pictured here. This second store no longer exists, having been destroyed in a fire while the building was being used as a warehouse. The fourth store, opened in the late 1990s, still operates as Lowe's.
