Barricaded escalator at the Sears store at the Newport Centre shopping mall in Jersey City, New Jersey. At the time of my visit, the store was conducting a closing sale, which would continue until March 3. At this point in the sale, all of the remaining merchandise had been brought down to the first floor, and the second floor was completely closed off. How ironic that the sign used to indicate that the second floor was closed was for remodeling, which would never happen again under Sears' operation of the space.
