Candy vending machines at the now-defunct Howard Johnson's restaurant on Afton Mountain in Virginia. The Afton Mountain location opened in 1948, and operated for fifty years, closing in 1998. I am guessing that this candy machine has not been touched since the restaurant closed in 1998, meaning that the candy shown had been there for 13 years at the time that the photograph was taken.
