Base of the cupola on the former Howard Johnson's restaurant on Afton Mountain in Virginia. The Afton Mountain location opened in 1948, and operated for fifty years, closing in 1998. This cupola was originally much taller, coming to a point with a "Simple Simon and the Pieman" weathervane at the top. The rest of the cupola was removed around 2008.
