Interstate 83 Business Loop shield along North George Street in York, Pennsylvania. Business Interstate 83 in York is the only business Interstate in the northeastern United States.

Unlike regular Interstates, business Interstates use a green shield, and take the form of a loop (touching the parent road at both ends) or a spur (touching the parent road at only one end). These roads, while signed as an Interstate, often are not freeways, and are routed along local roads through town.
