This building was built with the original Staunton Plaza shopping center in the 1960s to house a Woolworth's store. Woolworth's closed along with the rest of the chain in the mid 1990s, and was renovated to become a Stone & Thomas. This location was sold and converted to Peebles not long after opening when the Stone & Thomas chain was sold to Elder-Beerman. Peebles closed at this location in mid 2018.
