Two fire alarm strobes from different manufacturers (Gentex at left, Wheelock at right) in a small restroom at the Starbucks Coffee location across the street from the World Bank in Washington DC. I do not know what the difference is regarding these two strobes as far as what they are connected to goes. However, this situation was repeated throughout the Starbucks, with Gentex and Wheelock strobes throughout the store, similarly oriented in relation to each other.
