Former Shoney's restaurant in Waynesboro, Virginia, four months after closing "temporarily" in February 2014.
During the last ten years that this restaurant had been open, there had been rumors that this Shoney's would be converted to an IHOP, similar to what occurred to the larger Shoney's location in Charlottesville when it closed in the mid 1990s. The rumor, however, was nothing more than wishful thinking on the part of the local community, as there is no IHOP location in the Staunton/Waynesboro/Augusta County area as of this writing. The IHOP rumor was put to bed for good when it was announced in July 2014 that a restaurant called "Silk Road Asian Restaurant and Bar" would be opening in the old Shoney's location.
