Stairway leading from the fifth floor to the penthouse at Hotel 24 South, formerly the Stonewall Jackson Hotel, in downtown Staunton, Virginia. The penthouse space was originally intended for use as living quarters for the owner of the Stonewall Jackson Hotel. When the building was expanded and renovated to its current form in 2005, the penthouse was not included in the renovation work due to a lack of elevator access (the stairway shown here is the only way in and out of the space). Therefore, the space retains many vintage architectural and decorative elements. The current hotel management uses this space primarily for storage.
