Destination sign on a 1000-Series railcar, indicating that the train is a Blue Line train traveling to Rosslyn.
From 1999 to 2008, Metro ran a special service pattern on July 4.
In this special service pattern, the terminals of the Blue and Yellow Lines were switched, sending Blue Line trains to Huntington and Yellow Line trains to Franconia-Springfield. Blue Line trains terminated at Rosslyn, requiring that passengers transfer to Orange Line trains to continue towards downtown Washington DC.
