Demolition progress at the former Staunton Mall, on June 4, 2022. Staunton Mall closed at the end of 2020, and demolition began in 2022. This view shows all that remains of the mall corridor, running from the Belk wing entrance to Belk itself. Note that the sign over Belk's former mall entrance still lights up, and that light still shines on Belk's mall facade. The Belk store is still open, and is expected to remain open throughout the redevelopment process. As such, this signage and lighting is part of the Belk building rather than the mall, and therefore utilities are still connected.
