Amber and blue lights on the exterior of a soft mockup of a pair of 8000-Series railcars, at Metro's Fleet of the Future Expo on the National Mall in Washington, DC. These lights have been used to indicate brake fault conditions on the Rohr, Breda, and Alstom railcars, and provided train control indications on the CAF railcars. These lights do not exist on the 7000-Series railcars.
The purpose of the Fleet of the Future Expo was to demonstrate to the public the various features of the upcoming 8000-Series railcars, which will be manufactured by Hitachi.
