Three-handled pole in front of the center doors on a soft mockup of a pair of 8000-Series railcars, at Metro's Fleet of the Future Expo on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Metro had previously tested a multi-handled pole on car 3283 back in 2007, though the earlier one was flat, while this one was more three-dimensional.

The purpose of the Fleet of the Future Expo was to demonstrate to the public the various features of the upcoming 8000-Series railcars, which will be manufactured by Hitachi.
