Disused western corridor at the former Frederick Towne Mall (now called District 40) on the Golden Mile in Frederick, Maryland.
The recent history of the Frederick Towne Mall property is somewhat unusual. Frederick Towne Mall closed in 2013, save for the two anchor stores, Boscov's and Home Depot. For a time, there were plans for a third Walmart store to replace the main body of the mall, but those plans fell through after Walmart cancelled their plans for a store. The facility was later renamed District 40, and a redevelopment began using the existing buildings. The first new tenant in the redevelopment was Warehouse Cinemas, a movie theater that made use of the mall's eastern corridor and an existing movie theater facility. Other outward-facing businesses have opened in the mall as well. The original mall corridors, however, are not being used, and remain in a state of disrepair.
