Fire alarm pull station at The Original Pancake House in Bethesda, Maryland.

The pull station is a "Local" variation on the standard Simplex t-bar pull station, but the sign above it is unusual. Never before or since have I seen a sign such as this over a pull station that is in the affirmative, that yes, the building alarm system is connected to the local fire department.

Most signs like this mounted over pull stations state the opposite, that the alarm system is for evacuation purposes only, and that it does not call the fire department. Such signs advise the person pulling the alarm to then call 911.
