The facility was constructed as a Howard Johnson's motor lodge in 1963, and operated as a Howard Johnson's until 2001, when it was purchased by the university for use as a dormitory. The building served as a dormitory from 2001 to 2004, and again from 2005 to 2015. The building was demolished in 2015.
