Exterior of the Walmart store in Germantown, Maryland during conversion of the store to the larger Supercenter format. While the Germantown store always had two entrances, during the Supercenter conversion, the right-side entrance (future grocery side entrance) was closed off at the beginning of the construction, fully demolished, and rebuilt to modern design standards. These photos show the left-side entrance (future general merchandise side entrance) undergoing reconstruction.

Unlike most Walmart Supercenter conversions, the drop ceiling that existed in the original portion of the store was extended over the grocery expansion. In most stores that are converted to the Supercenter format in cases where the store originally contained a drop ceiling, the drop ceiling ends, and a higher, open ceiling typical of Supercenters is used in the grocery expansion.
