Debut of the Washington Metro's new 7000-Series railcars on January 6, 2014 at Greenbelt station in Prince George's County, Maryland. This four-car set, numbered 7004-7007, will undergo acceptance testing for several months before entering revenue service.
This photo shows seating at the end of car 7007, looking towards car 7006. The 7000-Series reintroduces side-facing seats next to the end doors on both sides of the door. These new seats are also more ergonomically designed than earlier versions. The cushioning is firmer, and the seats have greater lumbar support. The Metro "M" logo is located between the two seats.
